Josh Lobel for School Committee

Letters to the Editor

Marlene Rockmore knows Josh as a great team player who is forward looking and systematic

I first met Josh Lobel in 1997 when we both were appointed to the Arlington Schools Technology Council.

At that time, Arlington Public Schools was only beginning to use the Internet and had not yet began to use e-mail communications. Josh was instrumental in helping implement the email communication systems.

As someone with IT experience, I know that Josh's work ensured that the implementation of e-mail communication technology avoided costly redundancies and applied technology using forward-looking, systemic thinking. He worked with the principals, staff and administrators to ease the process of adapting to technology.

I worked with Josh for almost five years on the APS Technology Committee. Josh is a great team player, delves deeply into issues by fair and balanced inquiry, and applies thoughtfulness, research and insight to find appropriate solutions.

Over the past two years, Josh has been applying his extraordinary talents to learning more about school policy and budgeting. He has attended 95 percent of all School Committee meetings, videotaping and logging notes (which can be found at http://www.thinkofourkids.org/SchoolCommittee/SC-archive.htm).

Above all, Josh wants high quality and inspiring education for all our children and families. He will work to forge town/school partnerships to review budget to help set funding on more stable course. As a Town Meeting member, Josh knows that funding is tight throughout the town, but he will bring his balanced, inquiring mind to help look at issues. His nature is optimistic, and he will bring new insight to the School Committee. He truly cares about diverse learning needs of all our children.

I enthusiastically ask you to join me in voting in Josh Lobel for School Committee on April 14.

Marlene Rockmore
Town Meeting Member
