Jeanne Wall -- 3rd Grade Teacher in Arlington Supports Josh

Arlington Advocate, Thursday, March 1, 2007 - Updated: 09:00 AM EST

As a longtime Arlington resident and teacher, I have seen Josh Lobel at work, so I know how Josh’s leadership can help improve Arlington Public Schools. I taught each of Josh’s two children in third grade, so I know firsthand about Josh’s commitment to our public schools.

First, Josh cares about teachers and teaching. He has used his knowledge to assist Bishop teachers in connecting our curriculum to appropriate technology. Josh helped me with computers in my classroom before there was a computer specialist, and he was always available whenever a question arose. He worked creatively with a fourth-grade teacher to create a unit on weather that utilized Internet and Web quests. I appreciate Josh’s work in demonstrating new ways of thinking about how to teach curriculum. Josh cares about learning for the 21st century and making teachers comfortable with technology.

Second, Josh used his knowledge of technology to improve communications with the Bishop E-mail List, which collects information and makes it available to the whole Bishop community. This reduced paper that was sent home and improved our school communications.

Third, Josh is a caring, creative individual who listens, and he will try hard to understand what is best for students and teachers. I have seen Josh Lobel at work as a soccer coach giving positive and instructive support. Josh is a true role model for parents and community members on how we can support our students and teachers in all aspects of classroom activities.

Josh understands what goes on in the classroom and how to be innovative, compassionate and involved in Arlington's education. He will think about the needs of our students and teachers. He is a great candidate for Arlington School Committee and he is ready to make a difference.

Please join me in voting for Josh Lobel on April 14.
